2. Longest-Running ADTC Dance Camp Location
Another fun fact that makes ADTC the best Vermont summer camp is Vermont is our longest-running location! The Stratton Mountain School’s state-of-the-art campus was completed in 1999 and our first summer dance camps were held at SMS in 2003. We’ve been back every summer since! Another fun fact is that our dance camps pre-date many of the buildings on campus, including the performing arts center where we now hold dance classes and our show! In the early years we held dance classes in dorm classrooms and even in the cafeteria, so we’ve come a long way!
3. Olympic History
The Stratton Mountain School is a winter ski & snowboarding academy and college preparatory school. Another fun fact that makes ADTC the best Vermont summer camp is it’s Olympic History – SMS has produced 46 Olympic competitors! And ADTC campers get to stay in the home of some of the world’s best snowboarders, including the 2002 Men’s half pipe Olympic gold medalist Ross Powers, and Lindsey Jacobellis, who achieved a silver medal in the Snowboard cross event in 2006.
4. ADTC’s Founder Has a Condo at Stratton Mountain
Another reason ADTC is the best Vermont summer camp for girls is it was founded by someone who truly knows Stratton Mountain! American School of Dance, LLC (dba American Dance Training Camps) was founded as a Fairfield County, CT dance school in 2003 by recent college graduate, Lindsey Fadner. Lindsey believed a summer dance camp near her family’s ski condo in Stratton Mountain, VT might be a fun idea and that summer “ADTC” held 3 weeks of dance camp. Nearly 100 dancers from the Fairfield County, CT area attended, most of whom danced at American School of Dance during the year.
Just three years later ADTC in Stratton Mountain offered five sessions to more than 250 campers from all over the country. In addition, 2006 marked the year that ADTC expanded to Lake Tahoe, CA, offering three sessions to over 100 campers. Today, ADTC offers dance camps in 9 U.S. locations (and Lindsey’s family still has a ski condo at Stratton!).

They’ve worked their way up, first becoming CITs, then JICs (Junior Instructors) and finally ICs (Instructor-Counselors).
