What is your True Color Personality Style? I am definitely a blue and it’s what I got when I took the test. Everything that the color blue represents I am and I believe. It honestly matches me and my personality perfectly.
Who is your idol? My mom is definitely my idol. She has inspired me with her endless amounts of strength and inspires me to keep going every day. We have been through so much but my mom has never given up, not once. She has never let me down, or anyone else, and she has so much love in her heart. She is my rock and without her, I would not be who I am or where I am today.
Why do you love to dance? Dance is my whole world. I get to express myself, learn so many new things, meet so many incredible people, and it brings me so much joy. I honestly can’t remember that last time I went a day without dancing. Dance has been my rock and is my therapy, it gets me through all the good days and the bad ones. I just love everything about it.
What is your proudest accomplishment & why? My proudest accomplishment is simply that I am standing here today. I have been through so much in my life, especially in the last 4 years and there were some days where I didn’t think I was going to make it. But in the last year I decided to basically start over and have built myself back up. I am proud of how far I’ve come, how much I’ve overcome, and everything I have done to just be able to still be breathing.
What goals are you working on right now (in both dance & life)? My main goal is to just get through each and every day with a smile on my face. In dance, my goal is to become stronger and learn more from different choreographers in different styles. In life, my goal is to find at least a little bit of joy and happiness in everything I do, or most things.
Tell us about a difficult situation in your life and how you got through it. What did you learn? 4 years ago my dad passed away suddenly, and ever since then it’s been pretty tough. I was ok at first but I was also so young so
it didn’t really make sense to me. But when I got to high school, especially my sophomore year, I started to really feel it. I was also going through some issues with my best friends and ended up loosing my 4 best friends that were like my sisters. So now not only was I having a hard time in school and missing my dad, I had just lost 4 people that got me through each day. I ended up not knowing who I was anymore and didn’t think I had anything to live for. But I got help from a therapist and started over. I found my passion for dance again, new and incredible friends, ways to cope, and so many things that I had to live for, one of the main ones being camp. I have found so much more happiness in the last year and have found myself again. I learned so much from this experience but most importantly I learned that there are going to be hard times, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. That light is what I need to find in each day and keep my head up. Like I say to myself every morning when I look in the mirror, “you’ve got this.” That is my saying and will always be my favorite saying.
What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done? I’m not really sure but probably stepping out of my comfort zone to do things like go to camp. I never ever thought I would go to a sleep away camp as a child, but I’m so glad my mom pushed me to do it because it’s my favorite place to be. I found some of my best friends there and I found most of my happiness there.
If you’ve been to ADTC, what is your favorite dance camp memory & why? I have so many favorite memories from ADTC but my favorite memories besides getting to perform every Friday night, is getting to hangout with my best friends. Our late night hangouts where we get to just talk and be together and act like we weren’t just apart for 11 months.
What is your A.D.T.C. Superpower? Team-player! I am always making sure everyone is included and feels important. I always make sure I include everyone’s ideas and I get along with pretty much everyone I meet. No one should ever feel uncomfortable or unworthy or even like they’re not good enough, so I make sure the people that surround me always feel loved.
What do you want other girls to learn from reading your #ADTCidol bio & story? I want them to know that they’ve got this. That they can make it through anything even when they don’t think so. I want girls to know that they aren’t alone in anything and there is always someone out there for them to lean on. Life is a journey, it has no stop signs or yellow lights, so all we can do is find ways to keep going.
