ADTC Team-Player – Meet Sydni B. from NY!
“My A.D.T.C. Superpower is being a Team-Player. I aspire to embody this persona by including everyone and creating an inviting environment for girls during camp, just like girls helped me on my first night.
A difficult situation that I went through in my life is last year when I sprained my abductor and adductor in my left leg. I wasn’t able to dance for a few weeks and it was right before my competition so I was petrified that I was going to let my team down. But luckily with physical therapy and a lot of hope I was able to dance in competition. I learned that in order to succeed in anything you have to persevere and work extremely hard to reach your goals.
I want to inspire the other girls that read my story to include people, no matter who they are or where they come from. I hope they learn that even if something terrible happens you can rise above and achieve your goals.”

ADTC: What is your True Color Personality Style?
Sydni B: I am blue, and yes – I care very much about people even if I don’t know them well. I try to help everyone even when they don’t exactly want my help.
ADTC: Who is your Idol?
Sydni B: My idol is my great-grandmother, Lea. She was a survivor of the Holocaust. She was able to survive torture and lead a good life. She had a loving family and tried to never let the memories of the terrible times affect her life. Lea was extremely strong, and lit up every life that she came in contact with. I aspire to be a strong, happy woman like my great-grandmother.
ADTC: Why do you love to dance?
Sydni B: I love to dance because when I dance I can express myself. It makes me feel…free. Like no matter what is going on in my day, when I dance it just melts away. Plus, it is really fun.
ADTC: What is your proudest accomplishment & why?
Sydni B: My proudest accomplishment is getting the Simply Sweet judges award in one of my competitions for my solo. I always aspire to make people feel something when I’m dancing, and for this particular dance I wanted to give people a feeling of hopefulness. The judge said that I put a smile on her face and that was what I was hoping to accomplish.
ADTC: What goals are you working on right now (in both dance & life)?
Sydni B: In dance I am working on strengthening my turns and technique. In life I am working on getting good grades in school and helping out my friends with whatever they need. I am also trying to spend more time with my dog and go on runs with him so that he can get the exercise he needs.
ADTC: What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done? What did you learn?
Sydni B: The most daring thing I have ever done is go on a human slingshot with my friends. I learned if you give into fear you won’t be able to discover something that you might actually enjoy.
ADTC: What is the your favorite ADTC memory & why?
Sydni B: One of my favorite memories from camp was from my first year. I was extremely nervous and didn’t know what to expect. But everyone was extremely welcoming and supportive. A bunch of the campers came to my room and hung out with me and my roommate until curfew and it really helped my nerves and I made a lot of new friends.
