ADTC Adventurer – Meet Joule V. from TX!
“My A.D.T.C. Superpower is Adventurer. I am always excited to try new things and better myself no matter how hard someone says it might be. On my high school dance team they called me the “guinea pig” because I’m the one who isn’t afraid to throw new tricks – I know it can better the dance and will help me grow as a dancer. I actually taught myself how to do an aerial from YouTube because I wasn’t getting it in class. I love to look for challenges and help others embrace their courage.
A difficult situation I’ve endured in my life happened in 2016. While working out with my college team I ruptured my achilles and was rushed to the emergency room. It didn’t tear enough for me to need surgery, but it tore so badly I had to be in a walking boot for a few months. I had to sit out of dance and go to physical therapy. The hardest part was that it was my turning foot and I had to re-teach myself some things that took years to learn. But I never gave up! Still to this day – 3 years later – I have trouble with it. But I just remember how far I’ve come and I won’t give up no matter how hard it seems.
I want girls to learn that no matter how many struggles you go through in life, you have the strength to get through them. You should never give up, and if you feel like you’re about to, surround yourself with an amazing support system like I had. I wouldn’t have gotten through my injury if it weren’t for my family and friends. Sometimes we need that extra push to get us out there doing what we love. I would love to see you all at camp and you share your stories with us!”

ADTC: What is your proudest accomplishment & why?
Joule V: I’m very proud to receive many Staff of the Week awards we have here at ADTC. It lets me know that all the extra time I spend with the campers truly means something to them. I have built lifelong friendships at camp with the staff and campers!
ADTC: What goals are you working on right now (in both dance & life)?
Joule V: I am currently in college working towards my Bachelors Degree in Business Management. I plan to use this degree to help me open up my very own studio here in South Texas. My current dance goal is to get my front aerial on hardwood!
ADTC: What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done? What did you learn?
Joule V: I am extremely afraid of heights! My team went to Daytona, Florida to compete in nationals. While there we attended stunt fest and cheer teams wanted to put me in the air. I was so scared, it took a good 15 minutes for me to agree. I knew they were trained professionals, so I trusted them and let them stunt me! It was scary, but I had fun at the same time. I also got some pretty cool pictures out of it. I learned that even though you are scared of something, you should always try and trust the people you are with because you might actually enjoy it like me!
ADTC: What is the your favorite ADTC memory & why?
Joule V: ADTC has given me so many amazing memories. One of my favorites is a dance idol performance I watched at the Texas location. This camper had come to camp with little to no dancing experience and she wanted to learn so much, so I took extra time to work with her on what she wanted to learn. At that performance, you would not have believed she’d never performed in front of anyone. It brought so many emotions – even the other staff saw how much she grew and we were all crying happy tears!
