ADTC Dreamer – Meet Juanita F. from MA!
“My A.D.T.C. Superpower is Dreamer. I know that I have the power to accomplish anything I put my mind to, and that power can change the world. Dreaming and thinking it is halfway to making it happen.
A difficult situation I’ve endured in my life happened a few years back when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Until it was over I didn’t realize how much a toll it could have on the patient and her family. It was hard for me to go about my everyday life – it took so much out of my mother emotionally and physically. She had to act different and do stuff differently and that is what took a toll on me. Even though she is now cured and we made it through and are stronger, there are still figurative scars. But life doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger.
I want other girls to know we are worthy and independent and powerful. That no dream is too big or small, and goals are possible to achieve. I also would life for girls to encourage one another because giving someone a match to light their flame can change everything about a person and how they go on with their life.”

Juanita F: They would describe me as kind, dedicated and determined…and a little stubborn.
ADTC: What is your favorite dance style?
Juanita F: I love musical theatre dance, tap and ballet. I wish I was better at ballet, but musical theatre and tap are the styles I’m good at.
ADTC: What hobbies do you have outside of dance?

ADTC: What is your True Color Personality Style?
Juanita F: I am blue. I think it describes me to a T.
ADTC: Who is your Idol?
Juanita F: My teachers are my idols. When they had things in their lives that are going wrong, they put it aside for us to learn and grow. Another idol of mine is Misty Copeland because she started dance late and she accomplished her ultimate dream all because she was determined enough to do it. When I feel behind, I know that if I’m determined enough I can achieve what I think is impossible.
ADTC: Why do you love to dance?
Juanita F: I love dancing because it has opened up many doors for me. I started dance when I was nine, and I immediately felt I belonged. Dance has encouraged me to be more confident in school and in life. Dance has given me hope and a reason to dream. It makes me feel worthy; like I am somebody. Dance has made everything I’m currently doing possible.
ADTC: What is your proudest accomplishment & why?
Juanita F: My proudest accomplishment was getting a part in a musical where I have a solo and am a featured dancer. I was chosen over so many other amazing people and upper classmates, yet my director decided that I should have the role. It gave me so much confidence and has made me genuinely happy.
ADTC: What goals are you working on right now (in both dance & life)?
Juanita F: I’m working on being more than mediocre at everything in my life. I want to be my vision of perfection.
ADTC: What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done? What did you learn?
Juanita F: The most daring the I’ve ever done was play volleyball because I get anxious and intimidated about running and exercising with other people. I learned not to let anything get in my way when I really want to do something.
ADTC: What is the your favorite dance memory & why?
Juanita F: My favorite dance camp memory is when I got camper of the day. It made me feel good about myself and showed that hard work is noticed.
