Latin jazz dance is a combination of high-energy jazz taught with a Latin flare. Latin jazz dance incorporates a unique flavor of technical jazz skills and ballet, while fusing the afro-Caribbean dance styles of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Latin jazz dance routines emphasize style, energy and expression. Latin jazz dance is a great workout, and hot, hot, hot!

Latin Jazz Dance at ADTC Overnight Camps

Class begins with basic isolations intermixed with Cuban/Latin motions set in a traditional jazz/ballet structure, that works on dancer's coordination, strength and flexibility. At this level campers dance skills are assessed and challenged by incorporating authentic Latin dance movements with jumps and turns across the floor. Dance combinations will strengthen camper's awareness of musicality, space, timing and precision, giving the freedom to execute flawless performances on or off stage.

Latin Jazz Dance at ADTC ULTIMATE Overnight Camps

The four core dance classes at our ULTIMATE Overnight Dance Camps are in hip hop, jazz dance, Broadway dance & contemporary or lyrical. Although never offered as one of the four core dance classes, during select ADTC ULTIMATE dance camp session-weeks, our jazz dance teachers offer Latin jazz dance elective classes that focus specifically on the many different Latin jazz rhythms, including salsa dance, cha cha, merengue, samba, rumba and mambo. When a Latin Jazz Dance elective is offered, campers can choose to learn an additional performance piece for the Friday Night Show. Click an ADTC ULTIMATE camp location below for more details!

Latin Jazz Dance at ADTC Overnight Jazz Dance INTENSIVES

Jazz dance is the main focus at our Jazz Dance INTENSIVES. Since we consider Latin jazz dance a sub-dance-style of jazz dance, elective Latin jazz dance classes may be offered at these INTENSIVE camps. Our INTENSIVE Jazz Dance Camps differ from our ULTIMATE Overnight Dance Camps only in that the dancing focuses on jazz dance styles alone (as compared to jazz in combination with other dance styles like hip hop, Broadway and lyrical). At our Jazz Dance INTENSIVES, campers take four dance classes per day that explore the many variations of jazz, and if you still want more dance, you can choose to participate in our Latin jazz elective class, when we offer it! Custom Latin Jazz Dance Camps & Custom Latin Jazz Dance Choreography

American Dance Training Camp offers a team of renowned latin jazz dance instructors worldwide who teach at our ULTIMATE and INTENSIVE dance camps. Our latin jazz dance instructors can also choreograph pieces for that big recital, competition or event you have coming up &/or travel to your studio, school or private location for customized boot camps!

Competition Rules: All dances must be less than 3 minutes long (ANY dance style). Participants must indicate whether they choreographed the dance themselves (if not, you must give credit to the original choreographer). American Dance Idol has three categories: group dances (3 + dancers); pair dances (2 dancers) and solo dances (1 dancer).

Prizes: In each category, first runners-up receive a $25 iTunes gift certificate; and winners receive an iPod Nano (plus the chance to have their dance video, bio and an interview featured on the ADTC website!)
