Wow! It’s almost time for our Beaver Dam camp to start! I can’t wait to try out the go-carts at Fondy Sports Park. Recently my husband bought a golf cart for us to use around our place – we live on 2.5 acres. It’s pretty cool zipping around, but not quite fast enough for me! I’m thinking go-carts might satisfy my need for speed!

LAKE FOREST – Week 2 “The Best of Broadway”

Day 1 saw the campers learning some original choreography from the Radio City Rockette’s Christmas Show. Taught by our very own Rockette, Alexis Thebolt! This week the “New York Dreamers,” “Wicked Wonders” and “Jazz Handz” are competing for team points. We are off to Six Flags Great America today for some water park fun at Hurricane Harbor.

We are excited to have campers from Spain and Germany joining us this week!!

Lake Forest Week 1 “Shoot for the Stars”

The “Space-Jammers,” “Super Stars” and “Starbucks” have been competing for team points with their leaders E-Knock, Eden and Keri. They all had to make up a team chant that they break out doing whenever they hear a staff member say a certain code word. Today is TWIN TUESDAY and the goal is dress like another camper or staff. Lots of pink and black outfits today! Fun dance classes in Contemporary, Hip Hop and Jazz daily, and lots of dance electives as well. Lot’s going on to keep the campers busy!

Toiletries: toothbrush/toothpaste, soap, shampoo/conditioner, brush, comb
PJs
Underwear for each day
Socks for each day
Waterproof raincoat
Beach towel & swim suit
Sunscreen & bug spray
Water bottle (important!!)
Any necessary prescription medication (in original pharmacy containers)
Old T-shirt (for arts & crafts use & games)
1 Arts & Crafts project (to share with 15 campers)
A sheet set (twin XL)
Pillow & pillow case
Blanket or comforter
Bath towel
Dance shoes
Dance clothes (fitted dance pants, shorts or leggings, tops/tanks/shirts or leotards)
Shorts
Long pants
T-shirts & tank tops (when not in dance class)
Warm sweater or sweatshirt
Shower shoes (flip flops)
Sneakers
Walking sandals/summer shoes (no heels)
Water shoes (if canoeing)
Boots or heeled old shoes (for horseback riding)
1 nicer outfit

Optional: camera, book to read, journal & pen, stamps, envelopes & paper for letters, hangers, durable wrist watch, sun hat/visor, sunglasses, flashlight, ear plugs, travel games, playing cards, iPod, hair dryer, laundry detergent (if doing laundry at camp), umbrella, tennis racket, ice skates, dorm decorations, fan (Beaver Dam camp only).

What not to bring: Cell phone, candles/matches/lighter, expensive items (jewelry, etc.), television, laptop, DVD player, pets, Swiss army knives.

Kimberly Blosser grew up in New Jersey where she studied dance from the age of 5. She majored in dance at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where she discovered a love for modern dance. During her years at WSU, Kimberly had the opportunity to study with guest artists such as The Martha Graham Company, Garth Fagan Company, B.J. Sullivan, and Gina Gibney. She also enjoyed working with accomplished classmates, including Chris Masters and Sonya Tayeh. Kimberly was one of a few students invited to join the CounterGroove Dance Company as an apprentice, under the direction of her mentor, Erica Wilson-Perkins. After graduating in 2002, Kimberly relocated to Chicago, Illinois to continue training with Wilson-Perkins, serving as a teacher’s assistant and substitute at Colombia College. Kimberly also taught at Copeland Dance in St. Charles, where she enjoyed working with young dancers of all ages. Currently, she dances, choreographs, and teaches as a member of the Perfected Praise Dance Ministry at Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park. She is also a Pilates instructor and teaches at From The Center in Chicago. Kimberly’s other interests include running and hiking. She is currently training to run in her third Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
