TEEN LEADERSHIP DANCE CAMPS
Apply to be an ADTC "Leader-In-Training" ("LIT") This Summer!
Campers ages 15 - 17 are invited to apply for our "Leaders-In-Training" program at any ADTC camp ("ULTIMATE," "INTENSIVE,") they attend for a minimum of two weeks. To apply, campers must register for two or more sessions of camp and then complete and submit our staff application (you can omit the sections about dance teaching experience) along with two letters of reference - one preferably by an ADTC camp staff member. The application and letters of reference forms can be found on our "jobs" page. LIT campers will leave the program with a unique resume-builder and potential character reference for college applications.
* Note: You must be registered for 2 ADTC ULTIMATE or INTENSIVE camp weeks before you can apply and be accepted into our LIT program. Please register online and then submit your online staff application & 2 letters of reference. Once your complete application is received, we will notify you of acceptance (this is really just a formality - if you apply, you WILL be accepted!). Girls who have not had prior ADTC experience are still welcome and encouraged to apply. LITs will be expected to assume responsibilities beyond those of a camper, but remain campers and are not considered staff members.
Purpose
The "LIT" program is a unique opportunity for high school girls to develop their leadership skills using dance and camp activities. LITs participate in the overall ADTC experience as campers and spend designated after-class hours working directly with our staff, participating in leadership-related group discussions, and assisting younger campers. LIT program participants gain hands-on experience to pursue our Counselor-In-Training (CIT) and/or Junior-Instructor-Counselor (JIC) positions in future summers, should they chose to do so (you must complete our LIT program the summer before you apply to be a CIT). .
Goal
The goal of the LIT program is to help prepare ADTC teens for leadership roles in their communities and life after high school, while encouraging them to feel confidence and pride in themselves. The combination of work at camp and community service projects helps LITs grow as individuals.
Specific goals of the ADTC LIT program:
- Increase leadership skills so that participants will be prepared to assume camp and community leadership roles.
- Increase human relation skills between the young leaders, campers, adults (staff), and peers.
- Increase sense of responsibility and service to others.
- Increase sense of self-worth.
- Increase appreciation for the natural world around us.
- Increase teaching skills in program areas relevant to ADTC and the mission of ADTC.
- Experience community and cooperative living.
About the Program

The LIT Program is a combination of workshops, supervised opportunities with younger campers, program planning and general camp activities.
